Seamless Support for Travel Emergencies

Q: How do I file a claim for travel-related medical expenses?

A: If you have Active Plan coverage, call Canada Life immediately using the number on your benefits card when a travel emergency occurs. You’ll need to provide medical documentation, receipts, and proof of travel-related expenses. Claims can then be submitted online through My Canada Life at Work or by contacting Canada Life’s claims department directly.

Sarah had always loved to travel, and after months of planning, she was finally on her dream vacation in Costa Rica. But just a few days into the trip, disaster struck. While hiking through the rainforest, Sarah slipped on a wet rock and severely injured her ankle. Unable to walk, she was rushed to a local clinic, where the doctor confirmed she would need to be flown back to Canada for further treatment.

Worried about the mounting medical costs, Sarah remembered that her Active Plan included emergency medical travel coverage. From her hospital bed, she called the number on her Canada Life benefits card—the required first step to initiate a claim under the plan.

A representative guided her through the process and advised her to keep all medical documentation and receipts, including doctors’ notes, emergency evacuation details, and treatment records. After returning to Canada, Sarah submitted her claim through the online portal.

A few weeks later, she received confirmation that her eligible medical and travel expenses had been reimbursed, giving her the financial relief she needed to focus on healing.
