Manage Medication with Prescription Reimbursement

Q: How does prescription drug reimbursement work in the 60+ Plan?

A: The 60+ Plan reimburses prescription drugs up to $700 per person per year, with 30–70% reimbursement based on eligible hours worked.

Tom’s friend, Linda, needed regular medication for a chronic condition and wanted to understand how the 60+ Plan would help cover these costs in retirement. She reached out to Tom for guidance.

Linda learned that the 60+ Plan provides prescription drug coverage based on her accumulated eligible hours with IATSE Local 891. The plan reimburses eligible prescription drugs under BC Pharmacare, up to $700 per person per year, with the following reimbursement tiers:

  • 20,000–29,999 hours: 30%

  • 30,000–39,999 hours: 40%

  • 40,000–49,999 hours: 50%

  • 50,000–59,999 hours: 60%

  • 60,000+ hours: 70%

Linda appreciated that the plan rewarded her years of service and helped make her medication more affordable in retirement. Knowing she had consistent support for her ongoing health needs gave her peace of mind moving forward.
