Foot Support for a Healthier Workday

Q: Are orthopedic shoes and orthotics covered?

A: The Active plan and the 60+ plan cover custom-made orthopedic shoes and foot orthotics up to $500 per year for adults and $300 per year for children, with a doctor’s prescription.

One day on set, Tom’s friend Dave mentioned that his doctor had recommended custom orthotics to help with his back pain from years of standing and lifting. Tom knew the Active plan and the 60+ plan provided coverage for orthopedic shoes and orthotics, and he was happy to share the details.

“Our plan covers custom-made orthopedic shoes and foot orthotics,” Tom explained. “For adults, it’s up to $500 per year, and for children, it’s up to $300 annually. All you need is a prescription from your doctor and some documentation about the orthotics.”

Tom advised Dave to gather his prescription and receipts to submit a claim easily. With this support, Dave felt relieved, knowing he could access the orthotics he needed to manage his pain and work comfortably. For Tom, it was gratifying to see the union’s benefits helping another member stay strong and healthy on the job.
