Exclusions for Alcohol and Drug-Related Losses under Accidental Insurance
Q: Are accidents involving alcohol or drugs covered under accidental insurance?
A: No, losses under the influence of alcohol (over the limit) or non-prescribed drugs are excluded.
Tom’s gaffer, Chris, had a close call one weekend when he almost got into a car while intoxicated. Later, he asked Tom if his accident benefits would have helped if things had gone wrong.
Tom explained firmly, “If your blood alcohol level is over the legal limit or you’re under the influence of drugs not prescribed by a doctor, the plan won’t cover any losses.”
Chris took the lesson to heart, vowing to be more responsible in the future. Tom was relieved to see his friend taking his safety more seriously.
