Ensuring Your Loved Ones Are Always Covered

Q: Can I add a new spouse or child to my coverage?

A: Yes, but coverage is not automatic. To add a dependent, submit a Group Change Form to AGA Benefit Solutions along with any required documents. If your spouse is common-law, you’ll also need to include a Common-Law Declaration Form. If you are legally married, only your marriage certificate is required.

Tom, now in his mid-50s and an experienced member of IATSE Local 891, had always kept his coverage up-to-date. After years of working on set, he’d met Emily, a documentary filmmaker, and they’d recently gotten married. Eager to ensure she had access to the same level of security he enjoyed, Tom wanted to add Emily to his Benefits of Film coverage.

One evening after work, he sat down with the Group Change Form he’d downloaded from benefitsoffilm.com. Since they were legally married, he knew he didn’t need to submit a Common-Law Declaration—just the Group Change Form and their marriage certificate.

Tom carefully filled out the form and gathered the required documents to verify their relationship. In an industry known for its unpredictability, having comprehensive coverage felt essential. He wanted to make sure Emily was protected the same way he had been for years.

After submitting everything to AGA Benefit Solutions, he made a quick call to confirm receipt. A few days later, a confirmation email arrived: Emily was now officially covered under his plan. Tom felt relieved knowing that if she ever needed medical or dental care, she’d be supported.

For Tom, it wasn’t just paperwork. It was about extending the safety net that had helped him throughout his career—and welcoming Emily fully into the world he’d worked so hard to build.
