
The Benefits of Film plan offers three types of travel benefits:
Global Medical Assistance (Emergency Travel)
Medical Referral Travel in Canada
Out-of-Country Care
These benefits provide coverage for medical emergencies both within Canada and abroad or when a physician refers you for treatment away from home.
Eligibility
You must be a member in good standing with the hour bank.
You and your dependents must be enrolled in your provincial healthcare plan.
No out-of-country claims will be paid if you do not have provincial healthcare plan coverage.
Global Medical Assistance
Covers emergency medical help while travelling for vacation, business, or education, either outside of Canada or more than 500 km from home within Canada.
What's covered
On-site Hospital Payment: Up to $1,000Â for admission.
Transportation: Transportation to the nearest hospital where treatment is available if suitable local care is unavailable, or to a hospital in Canada.
Family Member Support: Transportation and lodging for one family member if hospitalized for over seven days, up to $1,500Â for lodging and round-trip economy ticket.
Companion Expenses: Lodging for a companion if the return trip is delayed, up to $1,500.
Return Transportation: For you, your family, and a companion if return transportation is missed due to hospitalization.
Body Transportation: Cost of returning the deceased’s body home.
Children’s Return Transportation: For unaccompanied minor children due to hospitalization or death, including escort transportation if needed.
Vehicle Return: Up to $1,000 to return your or a family member’s vehicle if illness or injury prevents driving.
What’s Not Covered
Meals, trip cancellation, and lost luggage expenses.

Medical Referral Travel in Canada
Reimbursement for travel within Canada is available for medical referrals, with a lifetime maximum of $2,000 for transportation and lodging. Your physician must refer you to a location 1,000 km or more away from home.
What’s Covered
Travel costs:Â For both the patient and a companion if recommended, limited to round-trip economy class fare or gas expenses.
What’s Not Covered
Taxi, car rental, and car repairs.
Out-of-Country Care
Emergency Care (100% Reimbursement)
The plan covers emergency treatment outside Canada.
Coverage: Includes treatment while temporarily outside Canada for vacation, business, or education.
Return to Canada: If it’s determined that you can return to Canada, coverage is limited to the lower of the cost of continuing treatment abroad or the cost of comparable treatment in Canada, plus return transportation.
Exclusions:
Ongoing care after the initial emergency treatment.
Pregnancy-related expenses after the 34th week.
Non-Emergency Care (80% Reimbursement)
Covered if:
Referred by your Canadian physician.
Not available in Canada and pre-approved by the Provincial Healthcare Plan and Canada Life and covered for a portion of the cost by the Provincial Health Plan.
You’re covered by provincial health insurance.
Exclusions:
Experimental treatments.
Transportation and accommodation costs.
Covered Services
Physician treatment, diagnostic services, hospitalization, and medical supplies.
Paramedical services, outpatient care, and drugs.
Emergency ambulance services and dental treatment for accidental injuries.
