
Critical Illness Insurance provides a lump sum benefit if you are diagnosed with a covered critical illness. It covers members under age 70 and includes additional benefits for dependent children.
Lump Sum Benefit
Receive $25,000Â for a covered critical illness. Dependent children receive $12,500.
Second Event Critical Illness
If diagnosed with the same critical illness more than once, you may receive another benefit, provided there is a 12-month gap between diagnoses and no treatment during that period.
Second Evaluation Benefit
Up to $1,000Â for a second consultation prior to surgery or treatment, with a different physician.
Transportation for outpatient treatment more than 125 km from home.
Outpatient lodging while receiving treatment more than 125 km from home.
Family Member Lodging and Transportation for one adult family member to accompany and care for you during non-local hospital stays more than 125 km from home.

Aortic surgery
Benign brain tumour
Blindness
Carcinoma in Situ (payable at 25% of the benefit)
Coma
Coronary artery bypass surgery
Deafness
Heart attack
Heart valve replacement surgery
Hip or knee replacement surgery (payable at 20% of the benefit)
Invasive Cancer
Kidney failure
Loss of Speech
Major organ failure (transplant or waiting list)
Multiple Sclerosis
Paralysis
Parkinson’s
Severe burns (over 20% of body surface)
Stroke
Choosing a Beneficiary
The beneficiary for the Critical Illness benefit will be the same as your Group Life Insurance beneficiary. If no beneficiary is named, the benefit will be paid to your estate.
When Coverage Ends
Coverage ends once you have received the benefit amount for each critical illness covered by the policy. *Note: Refer to the booklets for detailed information, exceptions, and conditions for availing these benefits.
