Nicholas Simon

Trustee

For Nicholas Simon, becoming a trustee is rooted in a deep sense of responsibility to the film community that has shaped his life. A member of IATSE 891 in the Special Effects department, Nicholas brings a grounded, on-set perspective to the Trust, along with a clear understanding of how working conditions, benefits, and long-term security affect members and their families.

Nicholas has been part of the film industry since childhood, beginning as an actor and remaining connected to the community into his 30s. In 2019, he transitioned into Special Effects, working closely alongside crew members across departments. Through this work, he has experienced both the highs and the uncertainties that define the industry and the cycles that have reinforced the importance of strong, well-managed trusts and meaningful member support.

His motivation to serve as a trustee comes from a belief in stewardship. Nicholas sees the Trust as a shared commitment built by generations of workers, and he views his role as helping protect, strengthen, and carry that commitment forward. He values transparency, accountability, and decision-making that reflects the real experiences of members, not just numbers on a page.

In addition to his on-set work, Nicholas brings experience in business, operations, and governance. This combination allows him to approach challenges with both empathy and structure. As a trustee, his interests include financial literacy, long-term sustainability, and clear, accessible communication with members. He is committed to asking thoughtful questions, supporting continuity, and ensuring the Trust remains resilient and responsive in an evolving industry.
