Base Drug Plan (100% Coverage)
Covers drugs listed in the BC Fair Pharmacare Drug Formulary.
Coverage is limited to the deductible and coinsurance required under the provincial Fair Pharmacare Plan for eligible drugs.
Fair PharmaCare Coverage
Check which drugs are covered by Fair PharmaCare at pharmacareformularysearch.gov.bc.ca using the drug name or Drug Identification Number (DIN).
Special Authority Drugs
Certain drugs may be covered if approved under the Special Authority program by BC Fair Pharmacare.
Your physician can submit a Special Authority request, with urgent requests processed within one business day and regular requests within 10 business days.
Supplementary Drug Plan (80% Coverage)
Covers additional drugs listed in the Canada Life Managed Formulary, prescribed and dispensed by licensed professionals in Canada.
Covers the lowest-cost alternative (generic) drug when available. Generic drugs are substituted for brand-name drugs. The right to limit the covered expense does not apply if medical evidence is provided that indicates a contraindication to the interchanged drug.
Includes coverage for fertility drugs, with a lifetime maximum of $10,000.
Cannabis for Medical Purposes
Covered when prescribed for one of the four conditions outlined in the Prior Authorization Form.
Obtain cannabis from a licensed producer after submitting the form for approval.
Maximum coverage is $2,500 per calendar year.
