
Base Drug Plan
The Base Plan covers drugs listed in the BC Fair Pharmacare Drug Formulary. Coverage for eligible drugs is limited to the deductible and coinsurance under the provincial Fair Pharmacare Plan.
To check which drugs are covered, visit Fair PharmaCare Formulary and search by drug name or Drug Identification Number (DIN).
Special Authority Drugs
Certain drugs may be covered under the Special Authority program if approved by BC Fair Pharmacare.
Your physician can submit a Special Authority request, and coverage is approved if you meet Fair Pharmacare’s criteria.
If denied, consult your physician or pharmacist for alternative options.
Supplementary Drug Plan
The Supplementary Plan covers drugs listed in the Canada Life Managed Formulary when prescribed and dispensed by licensed professionals in Canada.
Covers the lowest-cost alternative (generic) drug when available. Generic drugs are substituted for brand-name drugs. The right to limit the covered expense does not apply if medical evidence is provided that indicates a contraindication to the interchanged drug.
Includes fertility drugs with a lifetime maximum of $10,000.
Cannabis for Medical Purposes
Cannabis is covered for medical use when prescribed by a physician and obtained from a licensed producer.
Complete the Prior Authorization Form on Canada Life, submit it to cldrug.services@canadalife.com.
Maximum coverage is $2,500 per calendar year.
